Berikut panduan lengkap, detail, dan step-by-step untuk menginstal Ubuntu 22.04 LTS di VirtualBox 7.2.4 pada Windows 11, menggunakan laptop Dell Latitude 5490 (i5-8350U, RAM 16GB, SSD 256GB).
Panduan ini cocok bahkan jika Anda belum pernah install OS di VM sebelumnya.
1. Persiapan Awal
1. Download Ubuntu ISO
Download file ISO Ubuntu 22.04 (LTS):

File: ubuntu-22.04.5-desktop-amd64.iso Ukuran kurang lebih sekitar 3.8 GB
2. Download & Install VirtualBox 7.2.4
Download versi terbaru:
➡️ https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads
Pilih: Windows hosts
Install seperti biasa (Next > Next > Install).
2. Buat Virtual Machine Baru
1. Buka VirtualBox → klik "New"
Isi seperti ini:
- Name: Ubuntu 22.04
- Machine Folder: biarkan default atau pindah ke drive bebas (jika C: sempit)
- Type: Linux
- Version: Ubuntu (64-bit)
- ISO Image: pilih file ubuntu-22.04-desktop.iso yang sudah didownload
- Centang “Skip Unattended Installation” agar kita instal manual (lebih stabil).
Klik Next.
3. Atur Resource (RAM & CPU)
Memory (RAM)
Laptop Anda 16GB, aman memberikan:
➡️ 4096 MB (4GB) → cukup
➡️ Jika ingin lebih cepat: 6144 MB (6GB)
Jangan lebih dari 8GB, biar Windows 11 tidak berat.
Processor (CPU)
CPU i5-8350U = 4 core / 8 thread
Rekomendasi:
➡️ 2 CPU (aman & stabil)
➡️ 4 CPU (lebih cepat, tapi bisa membuat host agak berat)
Centang:
✔️ Enable EFI (special OSes) — Opsional
✔️ Enable PAE/NX
Klik Next.
4. Atur Storage (Hard Disk)
Hard disk size
Host Anda punya space kosong 100GB, jadi aman. Rekomendasi:
➡️ 30GB = cukup
➡️ 40–50GB = lebih leluasa
Type: VDI Storage: Dynamically allocated
Klik Finish.
5. Setting Tambahan di VM (sangat penting)
Setelah VM dibuat → klik Settings.
➤ A. System → Motherboard
Boot Order: Optical > Hard DiskCentang: ✔️Hardware Clock in UTC
➤ B. System → Processor
Processor = 2 atau 4 CPUCentang✔️Enable PAE/NX dan Centang✔️Enable Nested VT-x/AMD-V (opsional)
➤ C. Display
- Video Memory: set ke 128MB
- Graphics Controller: VMSVGA (default)
- Centang✔️ Enable 3D Acceleration
➤ D. Storage
Pastikan ISO sudah terpasang di “Optical Drive”.
➤ E. Network
Mode default: NAT (Internet langsung jalan).
Boleh ganti ke Bridged Adapter jika ingin VM punya IP LAN sendiri.

Biarkan default.

6. Mulai Instalasi Ubuntu
Klik Start pada VM.
Tunggu hingga muncul installer Ubuntu.

A. Pilih bahasa
English atau Indonesian → Continue
B. Keyboard layout
Indonesia → Indonesia → Continue
C. Install Type
Pilih:
➡️ "Try or Install Ubuntu" → masuk installer.
Klik Install Ubuntu.
D. Updates and other software
✔️ Normal installation✔️ Install third-party drivers (very important)
Next.
E. Installation Type
Karena di VM:
➡️ Pilih Erase disk and install Ubuntu (aman, hanya di virtual disk)
Klik Install Now → Continue.
F. Zona Waktu
Pilih: Asia → Jakarta (GMT +7)
G. Buat User
Isi terserah Anda, contoh:
- Name: Budi
- Computer name: ubuntu-vm
- Username: budi
- Password: ********
Gunakan Require my password to log in.
Klik Continue.
7. Proses Instalasi
Butuh ± 10–20 menit tergantung CPU & SSD.
Setelah selesai → klik Restart Now.
Saat restart, jika muncul Tulisan: Please remove the installation medium and press Enter
Langsung Enter saja.
8. Setelah Masuk Ubuntu (Setup Awal)
Anda akan masuk desktop GNOME Ubuntu 22.04.
9. Install Guest Additions (PERFORMANCE BOOST)
Ini wajib agar:
- Resolusi otomatis
- Shared clipboard (copy-paste)
- Shared folder
- Smooth display
- Performa jauh lebih cepat
Caranya:
Di jendela VM → menu atas:Devices → Insert Guest Additions CD Image
Di dalam Ubuntu → file manager otomatis terbuka → klik:
Run Software
Jika diminta password → masukkan.
Setelah selesai → reboot VirtualBox.
10. (Opsional) Shared Folder Windows ↔ Ubuntu
Agar Ubuntu bisa akses folder Windows.
Step:
- VM Off → Settings
- Shared Folders
- Tambah folder → pilih folder Windows
- Centang:✔️Auto-mount dan Centang:✔️ Make Permanent
- Start VM
